Panerai Releases Two New Luminor 1950 Equation Of Time 8 Days Gmt 8-day Power Reserve Time Watches

In the world of watchmaking, some watch functions are mainly practical; others not only meet the practical functions of the watch, but also stimulate people’s infinite imagination and bring immersion to watch lovers. Feel the joy of a century of fine watchmaking history. Two new Luminor 1950 Equation of Time 8 Days GMT 8-day power reserve dual time watches perfectly combine the two characteristics, highlighting the unique style of Panerai.

Two new watches with blue or brown dial and strap, equipped with a P.2002 / E manual winding mechanical movement, developed entirely by Panerai’s watchmaker in Neuchâte, with 8 Daily power reserve. The diameter of the movement is 13¾ legal minutes and is composed of 329 parts. P.2002 / E The movement has a variety of practical functions: It has two places, the center has a pointer to indicate the second time zone, and a small seconds dial at 9 o’clock Displayed in the morning and afternoon; the date and month are displayed at three o’clock; three springsprings are provided to provide the watch with an eight-day power reserve, and the back has a power reserve indicator. The movement is equipped with special devices that can stop the balance wheel from swinging and reset the second hand to zero, so that the watch is perfectly synchronized with the reference time signal. In addition, the hour hand can be quickly adjusted without affecting the normal operation of the watch.

The biggest difference between the basic movements of P.2002 / E and P.2002 lies in the ‘Equation of Time’ function-that is, it measures the gap between general daily time and real time. ‘Equation of Time’ is a classic complication of fine watchmaking, dating back to the ancient roots of ancient timekeeping and astronomy. Because the earth revolves around the sun in an elliptical orbit, and the ground axis and the equatorial plane are tilted, only four days a year are indeed 24 hours; on other days, the real time (solar time) is not consistent with the universal time, which is about 15 minutes The gap, the speed depends on the season. The two Luminor 1950 Equation of Time 8 Days GMT 8-day power reserve dual-time timepiece dials have a linear display at the six o’clock position, which clearly shows this time difference.

Through the sapphire crystal case back of the Luminor 1950 case, you can see the beauty of the P.2002 / E movement. The case is made of matte titanium. This low-sensitivity material is light and strong, and has corrosion resistance. The case design and diameter (47mm) follow the brand’s classic watch style. Its crown bridge protects the winding crown from accidental impact and ensures that the watch is water-resistant to 10 bar (approximately 100 meters).

The two new Luminor 1950 Equation of Time 8 Days GMT 8 day power reserve timepieces have crocodile straps and dials in different shades, dark brown (PAM00656) and metallic blue (PAM00670). The latter requires a physical vapor deposition (PVD) process in order to achieve such fascinating shades. Both dials have a ‘sandwich’ structure with a satin-finished solar radiation finish on the surface, protected by a slightly curved sapphire crystal surface, and harmoniously combined with the frame design.
The Luminor 1950 Equation of Time 8 Days GMT 8-day power reserve timepiece is presented in an elegant rosewood box with a spare rubber strap, tools to replace the strap, and a stainless steel screwdriver.
